A cocaine haul worth £80million was discovered as part of a National Crime Agency investigation. Four suspects were arrested on Wednesday after a whopping 847.5 kilos of the Class A drug was recovered by cops.
The men, aged in their thirties, forties and sixties, were arrested in the strike at an address in Merrington, Shrewsbury, before being released on bail. The NCA launched its investigation after Border Force searched a shipping container on December 23 at Tilbury Docks in Essex.
Officers discovered a coverload of shea butter hiding blocks of cocaine which had markings on the high and backside, together with Polo Ralph Lauren logos, a Cessna brand and a Star of David.

A woman in her forties was also arrested on suspicion of money laundering and released under investigation, the NCA confirmed.
David Phillips, NCA operations manager, said: “The NCA works tirelessly with partners at home and abroad to protect the public from the threat of Class A drugs which cause devastation to communities across the UK.”
He added that this was a “very significant haul of cocaine” and its seizure would trigger “big losses to the organised crime group behind its importation”.

The NCA warns that organised crime groups involved in drug trafficking are “typically also involved in a range of criminal activity”, with the profits from illegal drugs being used to fund other forms of criminal operations.
The agency leads the UK’s fight to cut serious and organised crime, and aims to protect the public by “concentrating on and pursuing these criminals who pose the best danger to the UK”.

Two months in the past, on December, the nation’s largest ever medication investigation by the NCA led to the arrest of 18 individuals. The members of a global organised crime group have been convicted and the courtroom was advised that the offenders smuggled a number of billion pounds-worth of heroin, cocaine and hashish to the UK.
