The distinctive imitation tortoiseshell glasses crafted by Metzler are synonymous with Morecambe’s razor-sharp wit and comedic identity. They were auctioned alongside his Barling briar pipe and two cherished black-and-white images capturing him adorned in those very spectacles.
This notable auction took place on January 10 and 11 at Hanson Auctioneers over four decades since Morecambe passed away due to heart failure at just 58 years old in 1984. In total, over 700 lots comprising various memorabilia related to this beloved entertainer were made available during this memorable event.
