Funds, from $9bn bond accepted by voters, consists of $725m for destroyed Palisades and Marquez elementary faculties
Less than a month after wildfires devastated southern California – destroying eight faculties throughout the Los Angeles space – districts are taking steps to rebuild and recuperate.
On Tuesday, Los Angeles unified college district superintendent Alberto Carvalho introduced the district will direct $2.2bn towards efforts to restore or rebuild three faculties broken within the Palisades wildfire, and renovate all of the districts’ campuses to be extra “natural disaster resilient”. The funding – which has been put aside from a $9bn bond that voters accepted in November – consists of $725m to reconstruct the just about completely destroyed Palisades and Marquez elementary faculties, and Palisades Charter highschool, which was about 30% destroyed.
